Larry is a co-founder of Operation Red, White and Bike. Larry is a retired training and development professional from the energy industry and has worked extensively overseas. Larry and his wife Marcia live in League City, Texas and own a small business in Kemah, Texas. Larry's main hobby is cycling; he and Marcia are keen line dancers. Rob, also a co-founder, is a retired Lieutenant Colonel; he enlisted in the US Army in 1979. He graduated The Citadel (Class of 1982) and served 24 years in the Infantry and Civil Military Affairs. He is pictured at a school that his team rebuilt in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Rob was the Commander of the Jalalabad Provincial Reconstruction Team from 2003 to 2004 and is the recipient of a Bronze Star medal.
Laura Bowman graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Education and has been teaching in the Cy-Fair School District for 22 years. She is the proud mother of two teenaged sons and is active in her community. Laura brings a special knowledge of children that has added real value to Operation Red, White and Bike.
Paddy Shrimpton is Co-Founder of the "MULES International Cycling Team" whose mission is to support Charities worldwide. After attending our very first Red, White & Bike Event he was very excited about the message and intent of Red White & Bike and wanted to help out. Paddy is an enthusiastic rider and brings his riding knowledge and networking abilities to the Board for ride planning activities. Paddy works for a major Energy Company in the Houston Area as its Principal Marine Specialist.
Felix is the Commander of The Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 723 in Katy, Texas. He is a retired Marine. He was medically discharged from the United States Marine Corps after being wounded in combat while serving his country in Iraq during 2004. Felix was awarded three Purple Hearts. The Garcia Family came to the attention of Operation Red, White and Bike after their two young daughters were nominated and approved as little heroes. Once bicycles were awarded to these young ladies, you could tell that Felix and his wife Christina loved what we do and wanted to get more involved with honoring children and younger siblings of combat wounded soldiers and soldiers killed in action. They know firsthand the impact that our program has on these young children and their families.
Dayna is a retired geophysicist from ExxonMobil, and spent 35 years working in the oil industry. She supplemented her geophysics background with a M.Ed. in educational psychology from the University of Houston, and she plans on teaching developmental math at the junior college level. She is active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Commemorative Air Force. She and her husband Tony Smith live in Spring, Texas with their menagerie of cats and dogs.
Sean O’Connor is a recent Texas A&M University graduate that currently works for Nalco Champion in Fresno, TX. He became involved with Red, White and Bike through the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M where the kid of an alumnus was presented a bike, and helped start a relationship where the Corps of Cadets would volunteer at our annual bike rides. He is involved in his church and getting involved in his new community in Houston.
